Foolish Questions

You've All heard foolish questions and no doubt have wondered why,

A person who will ask them can expect a sane reply.

Suppose Shane Rowley gives his girl some roses, though selfdom this would be,

Notice how she quickly grabs them and says "Are these for me?"

Foolish Questions! And he answers if he can,

"Why No. They're for my roommates or for my other girlfriend Pam.

I just wanted you to see them, no I'll take them right away."
Now there's a foolish question that you'll hear most any day!

Each morning J.T. eyes the mirror admiring his grace,

And then he takes his shaving brush and lathers up his face.

And as he gives his razor that preliminary wave,

Steve Hollingworth walks in and asks. "Are you going to shave?"

Foolish Questions! And his answer is, i hope.

"Why no. I'm not at all prepared for shaving, I just like the taste of soap!

I like to take my shaving brush and paint my face this way."

Now there's a foolish question that you'll hear most any day!

As Bishop Naylor leaves home, his wife stops him on the way,

And asks him where he's going, then listens while he'll say.

"I'm going to the funeral of dear old cousin Ned."

And as soon as he finished, she will ask him "Is he dead?"

Foolish Questions! And he might as well reply,

"Why no, He thought he'd have the funeral now, then later on he'll die.

Cousin Ned was so original, he'd have wanted things that way."

Now there's a foolish question that you'll hear most any day!

When Brother Littlefield and son are hunting and riding in the snow

He gets bucked off at the cliff's edge, to the rocky floor below.

And as he hits the bottom and is lying there inert,

His son leans down and yells out, "Hey Dad, are you hurt?"
Foolish Questions! And his dying words are "No!

I was in an awful hurry and my horse was too darn slow!

I thought i'd save a little time by coming down this way."
Now there's a foolish question that you'll hear most any day!

Sometimes we all have real bad days, when nothing's going right.

We end up sad or scared or lonely when we got home at night.

We get in bed and hope that somehow, our troubles fade away.

And just before we get to sleep, a thought comes "Should i pray?"
Foolish Questions. And we might shake it off real quick.

"I like being miserable, confused, upset, or sick.

I'll get the spirit tomorrow, I'm just too tired today."
Now there's a foolish question that you'll hear most any day!

Isn't it amazing how true this poem is. The first thing we think is. Should we pray? I know that prayer is such an important part of our lives. And i wish that we all would remember that. I know that i'm not the best at this either. I have always had a hard time remembering to pray in the morning.

Yesterday at church, we had an amazing Sacrament meeting on Prayer. Brother Newman spoke on how we need to stop, and think and ponder on what we had prayed about after we say amen. I know that i truly need to work on that.

My brother also spoke, and he said "imagine that you are going to be away from the people that you love the most, and can't talk or see them for two years. But you can have one phone call every 6 months. How important would that phone call be?" Then he began to compare this to our Heavenly Father. Just as it killed my parents not being able to speak to Bradon. When we don't talk to our Heavenly Father, it deeply saddens him. He misses us, and wants to know how we are doing.

I think we all should make a goal to pray twice daily! This shouldn't be too hard, since school is starting, we need all the help we can get. Let us remember that we have a Father in Heaven, that misses us, loves us, and wants us to come home. And we can return home, by kneeling down, and asking for his help.
